Museum Carnuntinum, Deutsch Altenburg

The Museum was built by the architect Friedrich Ohmann in 1901-1902 in the style of antique country house. The festive opening took place on May 27, 1904 and was personally initiated and attended by the Emperor Franz Joseph I. Ohmann was awarded the highest acknowledgment by the Emperor. The Museum represents a unique historical building of Austrian museum architecture. This building is the interpretation of the ancient world of that time. The Museum in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg with its 3.300 exhibit items is the biggest Roman Museum in Austria.
