Zollamtsteg – Bridge near Customs Office, Vienna

Until today all the bridges over the Wienfluss (Vienna River) function as very important transportation constructions. Some of them are notable for their artistic decoration, the idea of which belongs to Friedrich Ohmann together with Josef Hackhofer. One of the most successful and unique examples is the so-called Zollamtssteg. It was built in 1906 as a pedestrian bridge between the former Ministry of War (now Ministry of Economics) and main building of Customs Office.

The special attraction of this with love for detail designed construction lies in the combination with the City railway bridge (today subway), built by Otto Wagner. Similar to Wienfluss Gate in Stadtpark two different architectural concepts harmoniously coexist here.
